Well I just wanted to introduce myself before I start posting all of my newby questions.

After years of enjoying meat on my trusty coal fired Webber grill, my family was kind enough to buy me my first smoker for Christmas this year. Masterbuilt Sportsman (Propane)

I first fell in love with BBQ when I traveled to Kansas City for work about 5 years ago. I never knew meat could taste so good before going there. I was fortunate enough to eat at all of the big KC places (Arthur Bryant, Gates, Smokehouse, etc) as well as some of the great local dives (Oklahoma Joe’s being my favorite)

I live about 40min northwest of Detroit, so I’ve been to all of the local places here (Union Woodshop in Clarkston, Slow’s in Detroit, and my new local favorite Bad Brad’s in Shelby). But now I’m ready to start doing some of my own!!!!

I am a die hard car guy (drag racer), so I love the fact that you guys are modifying these things for better performance. That is right up my alley! Can’t wait to get started… already signed up for the 5 day e-smoking course.

Look forward to hearing your experiences, and sharing mine.

Scott

Hello and welcome from East Texas. This is a great site, lots of information and great people that are willing to throw in their two cents worth on about anything.

Welcome Scott!  Congrats on that new Masterbuilt!  You'll find that this is a great place to share ideas on smoking, grilling, etc.  There are plenty of folks here who genuinely enjoy helping one another.  Looking forward to your input, and just ask when you need anything...someone here will surely have the answer.

Welcome Scott

You're gonna love that unit!  Be sure to join the Masterbuilt group for great info on the care and operation of your machine!
