First smoke!

  1. So I started my first smoke last night around 11pm central hoping it would be ready for either lunch or dinner today and as of right now internal temp is 137 with heat set at 210 so I guess it's just the waiting game now...should have plenty of smoke from my new AMNPS! Here are some before pics and will be posting some after too!
    Put the first round of rub on Friday night and have it another coating before putting it on the grill!
    Can't wait to post some Qview later!

    Looking good, what IT are you going for?  At 210 it will take a while to get the meat to 200-205. If your pressed for time, kick the heat up a bit, 225-250 would do no harm.

  5. Kicked up the heat and going for 195 IT...from what I've read that seems to be where most people take it off

    I like a 205 temp  myself ,it looks good so far !

    Follow CrazyMoons advise and take it up higher. 203-205 will be better. It gives time for everything to break down.

    Agreed, Pork butt to 200-205.
  9. Good to know...I'll have to get it up a little more next time! Right now have it resting at 198...took a lot longer than expected but hoping for good results! Have about another hour of rest

  15. Emptied my plate too fast haha! Not bad for a first smoke and the wife made homemade vinegar slaw...that with a little mayo and pickles made for a very good dinner! Think I will try a tritip next cause I have heard they were amazing
  16. ill be sure to take more pics next time...was just kind of hectic being my first time ever smoking anything

  18. Haha I got too caught up in the eating! I'll be sure to post a lot more pics next time! Probably be a day or two before I do another one...not too crazy about my rib this time so I'll change it up and try some new stuff on my next one

    Here is the rub I use. It's basic, but good.
    1/4 cup brown sugar
    1/4 cup table salt
    1/4 cup paprika
    1 Tablespoon freshly ground black pepper
    1 Tablespoon granulated garlic powder
    1 Tablespoon onion powder
    1-1/2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
    1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
