This was a chirstmas present and this weekend i got a chance to put it together and try it out.  We smoked 3 full racks of ribs one on the first grate and two on the upper one.  The two on the upper one did not turn out as good as the one on the lower grate.  They were good, the ones on the upper grate, but nowhere near the one on the lower one.  Was wondering why and if there is anything i can do to even them out, so to speak.  The upper ones were a little more dry and i sprayed them with apple juice about every hour for the full 5 and half hours.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks
 
The upper grate is about 15 to 20 degrees hotter than the bottom grate, so if your cooking ribs on both grates then you need to switch them half way through the smoke or put the meatier ones on top.
 
Thanks Al... I would have thought the exact opposite considering the proximity of the meat to the heat.  I'll give it a try next time.
