First Smoke ever, Pork Loin 9lb

    Hi there Everyone, 

    So I have been reading the forums for a few days now.

    I just got a Traeger pellet Smoker. I rubbed the Pork loin last night and left in the fridge over night.

    This morning i took it out of the fridge and let sit about an hour. Then i injected the loin and put it on the smoker.

    Its been on now 4.5 hours at 220-230F and is now at an internal temp of 143f

    Now we do not like rare mean, we like it to be cooked all the way through.

    Its my plan to foil and put in a cooler for 1.5-2 hours.

    So the question is, at what temp to take it off the smoker? 150f?

    will it be tender after being left in the  cooler for 2 hours?

  2. id say 150 would be alright..any more than that and youre just drying it out. theres not a lot of fat at all on that thing so i wouldnt be worried with raw meat.
  3. I'm agreeing with TurnandBurn, It's going to raise some while sitting. I'd rather have a little pink then well done. Todays pork standards are not what they used to be.  Good luck and looks tasty.

    No more than 145!!! You will dry it out going any more than that!

    Thanks guys, 

    i removed it at 148 and its been in the cooler for over an hour now. Double foil and packed in a towel but the temp never went up. Its at 139 right now. Il be cutting it soon so ill let you all know.
