I've been saving up for a Lang but just couldn't wait anymore and picked up a Smoke Hollow 30 gasser Black Friday Weekend for $100 to hold me over :).

Got my pork butt rubbed and wrapped and its been in the fridge since last night awaiting its debut around midnight or so.

Hopefully my AMNPS and Maverick will come in today (took advantage of the Cyber Monday deal).

UPDATE #1

AMNPS and Maverick came in with a bag of Applewood (which will be used for pork tonight) and a bag of Oak. Unfortunately USPS wasn't kind with my package and there was some cleanup needed.

Already burned off the oil from the AMNPS and tested Maverick so I am ready to go tonight.

UPDATE #2

Started Smoker around 1:30am and filled up AMNPS and got it lit, got meat in the smoker around 2am.

UPDATE #3

Checked on smoker around 8am, lowered temp to adjust for heat from the sun (was sitting at 240). AMNPS is completely burned off, was expecting a little more then 6hrs (assuming it just finished burning when i checked it). Got the AMNPS filled and light and back in the smoker (through a wood chunk in while lighting the AMNPS to keep smoke rolling).

UPDATE #4

Meat's been stalled now for about 2 hours at 178 degrees. Smoker temp's been ranging between 220 and 240. Hot day here so added some water to the already foiled water pan to keep temps level. Been on now for roughly 13hrs. The second fill of the AMNPS only last about 3hrs, so I must be doing some wrong, I've resorted to Apple Wood chunks to keep the smoke rolling instead of wasting the pellets.

UPDATE #5

Pulled meat out, time to wrap.

Sorry no plating as we rushed out of the house but here is final product.

Overall the experience was great, I do however need to look into why i was getting such short burn times on the AMNPS.

I made them smaller to not take up too much page space, if you click on them doesn't it make them larger? It does on my end at least. Let me know if not I will resize them.

Great job Ryan

That's some awesome bark on that beauty
