First Pork Butt and First Q-View

  1. Going to attempt my first pork butt today on the MES. Will try to add pics along the way. Here goes nothing...

    Ready for rub.

    Rubbed and ready for smoker.

    And into the smoke.

    Lookin yummy! What did you rub with? Wood? Temp? How long are you anticipating to smoke?

    Mmmm....... pulled pork, looking good. I can smell that goodness here. Nothing else has that heavenly aroma!

    Remember that is an electric smoker, its important to keep the door shut because even though an electric holds temp great, its hard to recoup its heat lose from opening the door. I have heard it said that its as much as 15 mins although personally I think that might be excessive. You've got a long smoke ahead so just kick back, smile and enjoy the smoke....... No stress allowed.
  4. I used Jeff's rub. Smoking with hickory, apple and pecan shells at 225 for about 9 hours.

  5. About 5 hours in. Just put some ABTs on to pass the time.

    looking good so far.. congrats on getting over the "first" hump.. on both PP and and the QView.. nothing to either one...

  8. Here it is, out of the smoke. Didn't stay on as long as I would have liked but I was working on a deadline. Was still tasty though.
