First Fattie

    I havnt been too active lately, been busy and I havent had much time to post any Qview. Yesterday I kind of took a day to just relax a little and enjoy some family time.
    I decided in the afternoon to throw together my very first Fattie!
    I just used what I had around and it turned out fantastic.
    It was a big hit with my wife and my buddy that stopped by.
    It was pretty basic but delicious.
    I started with about a pound and half of homemade sweet hot Italian sausage. added a generouns layer of homemade cured and smoked ham
    then onions, garlic and mozzerella and new york cheddar.
    smoked it with cherry wood in the GOSM for bout 2.5 hrs til it hit 170
    had a basic meal of fattie and sweetcorn. it turned out great!

    Looks great lar, I see you had a bit of a split, glad she held together though.

    Very nice fattie. Looks like that split did hold together it could have been ugly but nice plate of food to boot.

    the split was where the end was I didnt get it sealed up quite good enough I had the filling too close to the edge. but she held and for a
    first one it came out fantastic the cherry smoke combined with the sweet hot italian sausage was great!

    Looks great!

    I have to give you props for putting that much filling in there...as I get a little skeered to see them leak or split. However, thanks to some pro tips from others here recently, I did a fatty last weekend and it HELD TOGETHER 100%!! Can't wait to do another.

    I'm thinking about doing a cheeseburger fatty, using 85% lean ground beef, onion and cheddar cheese - along with some diced mushrooms.

    Richtee gave me a pro tip for those wanting to change things a little from the usual pork or Italian sausage: if you use ground beef that's a little on the lean side, mix in a small packet of gelatin power before rolling out the meat...it bonds the meat together in the absense of a lot of fat!
