My first attempt at a Fattie. The first one I put Pepperoni, cheese, ham and sauce. The second one I loaded up with the works. Have a question, the first one the bacon did not cover the ends, should I patch some bacon over it or just let it go. The second one turned out pretty good I think.
Thanks for the help getting started on fatties, hope it tasted good!

Those are GREAT looking first fatties and that weave if it's on just one of them...I gotta' go back and look what state you're living in because it's big enough to be called a TEXAS weave.

If you're a bit short on the ends (how if that was the same weave you used on the first one

) it's no biggie. It's the rounded part that it comes out the best anyway and helps to hold it together (some say yes, some say no, but since all of mine have bacon I wouldn't know).

The problem I had was, the tubes of meat, I processed and they were over a pound a piece and the fattie turned out bigger than expected so I had to do a little bacon "stretching" to make it fit, maybe not the proper way to do it but it worked and I think it should taste O.K.

I'm not talented enough to do the weave, so I wrap the ends first, then wrap the rest of the fatty. You can see in the photo how I wrap the ends.

Hey Iowa. Great sounding fatties. It looks like you have 4 going in that first picture. What gives?
I wouldn't worry about the ends not being covered, just make sure you've got it pinched shut well. That's unless you're being a smartass 'cause that's the world's biggest weave. What kind of Paul Bunyon bacon are you buying? It looks like it's about 2 feet long. I'm lucky if I can get 6 pieces weaved.

Dude,
The first picture was of the two different meats I mixed together (Italian, and plain burger) The problem was they were more than a pound and the loaves turned out huge, that was my first mistake. Being so big, my first bacon wrap did not fit, so the second weave I went “BIG” LOL! I’m hoping they taste alright. Learned some stuff and my 16 year old showed a ton of interest, so all in all I’m pretty happy!

Great Job!!!!!! on your first fatty. Not only are the good to eat but a lot of fun to make. It's great that your 16 year old showed interest in it. You can never start them to young.
