Well Guys,

I am still in the process of messing around with my UDS build and I decided to go to Menards and pick up a smoker and get busy smoking some meat. I picked up one of these:

I have done some reading on these and have made a few mods to it.

I am going to season it tonight, and do my first ever smoke tomorrow. I am so looking forward to this!

I am thinking for my first smoking experience I would like to try pulled pork. I am looking for some ideas for a rub, and any other last minute instructions would be greatly appreciated! I have watched some vids on youtube, and I have read a lot on this forum. I took the 5 day e-course, so I think I have a basic idea of what to do.

I am going to have some guests over for dinner tomorrow night and I don't want to blow this. If you have a fool proof rub and cooking method for melt in your mouth pulled pork, I am all ears.

Thanks!
John

JRD, read this sticky, and you can't go wrong.

As for a rub, I personally use a store bought brand thats put out by a local BBQ establishment (Rendevous)...but I hear that Jeff's is top notch if you are wanting to make your own. Click the banner at the top of the page to get it.

Advice from my first butt smoke, give yourself more time! Set your alarm and get started early.

Good luck, and have fun!

It will work very well as will his sauce recipe that comes with the rub recipe and I would highly recommend them

this is what i do and my pulled pork comes out perfect everytime
apply a mustard base to your pork and add your rub heavily and wrap up in saran wrap put in the fridge overnight then next day unwrap and apply more rub and throw it on the pit ..i run my pit about 250-275 and i let the IT of the pork get to about 160-165 then foil with some apple juice and run it to 195 IT and then i take off and put it in a cooler for a couple of hours ....by the time i take it out and un foil it just falls apart and is not mushy..and everyone craves about.....hope this helps
