For my first smoke I got a 10lb brisket packer and a 6 lb corned beef point. My question is which one do I put on the top rack, does it matter?

Secondly I was going to soak the corned beef tonight in water in hopes of getting the some of the saltiness out and try to make the pastrami. My plan is to do the smoke on Saturday. Never had a WSM so any tips or tricks would help out. I'll have some pics up once I start with the meat

From what I have learned here at SMF you want the 6 lb on top because it will be done first. I'm also trying pastrami for the first time this Saturday. I soaked mine for a bit under 20 hrs changing the water out 5 times. Now it's seasoned and sitting in the fridge. I do not own a WSM but surely someone here can help you with advice....
