this is my first butt since joining SMF's. it turned out great. smoked yesterday with some fatties we ate last night. the pulled butt is tonights meal.

i made a rub with brown sugar, garlic powder, paprickia, black pepper, salt, cayanne powder, itialian seasoning, onion powder. rubbed till coated well and let rest for 45 min till juices began to flow. hit again. popped on the smoker at 1pm yesterday.

heres the butt at 2 1/2 hrs as fatties went on.

at 5 hours. fatties were almost done.

and i removed the butt at 10pm and foiled.

here it is. took off heat at 9 am and let rest till 1 pm today.

i love it when a fork does the carving.

thanks. smoking abts now. joining here really got my smoker working double time. always liked smoking and grilling. sure is a blast. and the best part. we get to eat our prizes.

looks great man! I'm with ya on hitting them hard with the rub, theres a place in town that smokes boston butts and they dont put anything on the meat, but if they have a competetion somwhere they get preped days in advance. Just don't seem right.

Looking good man.You left the foil under the butt while cooking?Thats why i like this sight, I learn from a lot of folks, different ways and styles...great job

Nice smoke and Q View too, congrats my friend. I like your choice of the rub.

ya. i havent played much with drip pans. i always used foil under meat briskets ect like a bowl to hold juice and flip 1/2 way through smoking.

seems to work fine. though i am gonna pick up a hunk of meat today and get a few foil pans to try that way too. new ways and old tricks. like to learn like to share.
