How's the competition doing?  They full up yet.  This is my first wind of it.  I would love to come down there from NC to see what I can do.

LOL... Red... it's just a little comp at our local county fair.. If you go back to the beggining of the thread you'll find the link to all the info about it... Not sure you wanna drive all the way down from NC just to participate in a comp thats for charity (all winnings go to your charity of choice)

i haven't called to confirm but i should be registered! I appreciate the invite to come hang by the fire keith but i'm actually going to head to tampa after the comp. to see some friends i haven't seen in a long time.

but for sure another time we could all get together by the fire and drink some beers

Al are you doing the comp?

LOL.. Al reread the rules and found out you can't drink beer... He says he can't smoke without drinking beer...

I borrowed the weber kettle that my buddy got from the comp last year to do some practice runs... did a butt and it took 8 hrs... still had enough charcoal to go another 8 hrs ..LOL.. oh well, that was the purpose of borrowing it so i could learn it... get'n excited as time gets closer...

Todd, Owl, thx guys.... should be a blast

i completely agree with him :)

well it might just so happen that i need to use bourbon in my cooking process...and every good chef has to taste all of his ingrediants for freshness ;)

Good luck to both of you guys! I bet you both do real good!

You guys are TOO much!  I know the fair grounds will be hopping for the cook off.  Make the SMF proud, and send lots of Q-view and mug shots, of the perps.  Good luck all!!!

Man that sounds like it would be a kick and what a great deal keeping the Weber too

OK... so the results are in...Although we didn't place we had a blast... We learned a lot as this was our first time competing...I know I'm gonna catch hell here but I really didn't get any pics..I do have a few pics of the whole crowd but I didn't get any MEAT photos (shame on me). I'll get those posted later...

Doug also made it over from Ft. Lauderdale... It was good to see him again and he made GREAT brisket... almost as god as mine :yahoo: Here's a link to the article in the newspaper this morning. We both got a little love from the reporter in the article...

Enjoy, we did !

Congrats you had fun after all this is a hobby.  Glad you had fun I know you will do it again.

what alchohol?? ;)

yea it was a good time Al, next time you'll have to come over and compete with us!

had a great time haning out with keith and bill! i do have some pictures i'll have to compile and put on here.  unfortunatly the new camera i bought only stores about 10 pictures onboard so i need to get a SD card for it.

so not the greatest setup of pictures.

overall a very good learning experience and much stiffer competition then i expected.  i felt bad for the judges :)

Here are some pics from the event! unfortunatly we never had a chance to do a forum pic of me, keith and bill because we were all to busy getting food cooked

Getting the coals ready!

Me and my cooking partner Robbie decided a few days earlier we were going to create an original recipe sauce and compare, him being an over achiever made 2, a mustard bbq sauce and a regulard sweet bbq sauce.  i went with a chicken wing sauce, all 3 turned out great
