Fire Box droop

Discussion in 'Charcoal Smokers' started by mrwseahunter, Apr 3, 2014.

  1. I went searching and didn't see anything; I just got an OK Joe from Charbroil and when I put the fire box on it looked like it was drooping a little bit. Well, after seasoning to about 450F and then an 8 hour run with 2 racks of pork ribs the fire box is noticeably drooping. So I have 2 questions:

    1. Is this common?

    2. Whats the best way to fix this?

    Thanks,

Can you bolt a piece of angle across inside of cook chamber?

  3. I was thinking of that or maybe a support or legs under the fire box. One of the immediate problems it's caused is that I made a deflector plate and it won't seal flush against the bulkhead because the fire box is causing the bulkhead to bow out and I can't get my temps to even out. That angle might be able to solve a few problems.
