Well after seeing all the uds, I decided to give it a shot.  No food safe barrels, this one had synthetic drawing lubricant.  I scrubbed it up with some dawn dish detergent, going to burn it out tonight.  Metal is cut for the firebox, going to weld that up as well as the 3/4 pipe nipples, one of the holes got sloppy on me.  So here is what I have so far.

looking forward to seeing your first smoke on it.  I am looking for a drum to make one too.  I may just buy a new one as where I live you can not do burns

Hey Rk im just north of you in carroll county.  I got my barell from a guy in glen burnie.  He wanted 30 bucks for it, and it was closed top, so I had to cut it off, but that is the best i could find.  That would work for ya, but if ya cant burn it out, maybe you got some friends you could take it to and light it off.  let me know if you need the contact number.

I Got my barell and fire basket welded up today.  Hopefully by the end of the weeked it will be done!

Well i was orginally going to weld it but someone i know did it for me.  I had it bolted together kind of a mock up to see if it was going to work, so we left that and he tack welded the explanded metal to the grill grate.  I told him not to worry about feet, i just used bolts i had around the house.  So pandemonium its 50\50 lmao

just wondering lol you would catch hell on a welding forum for that haha they get nasty haha i heard it for not welding hinges on my barrel grill

Well im getting done.  I got it painted, and the metal cut out for my lid modification.  I used the stove gasket with the cement to seal it up.  All i have left is to bolt it in place, install my 2 racks, and a thermometer and im done.  Been tough to get any work done lately with all the rain.
