After saving up for academy gift cards for two months,i have finally got my smoker. Its the oklahoma joe 20" with the offset firebox. id put pictures up my my camera is out of commission. I am in the process of curing it right now. I built the fire with six pecan logs, its burning at 300 degrees (i know that too hot for smoking), and finally i am getting thin blue smoke. I was nervous because the smoke smelled really harsh and was really thick in the smoking chamber for the first 45 minutes. Now a bed of coals is forming and the thick smoke has disappeared. Anyhow thanks to everyone for their input and help thus far. I cant wait to smoke something!!

congrat's but we need pics !

Well congrats on that new smoker, you'll be ready for Superbowl. It's all good my friend.

Well i let it the wood burn for 2 1/2 hours, and i thought i had it to where it wasnt producing thick white smoke, but then i adjusted the vent to start choking it down when thick white smoke started coming out. for the most part the logs where burnt down to coals but there was one log that was still intact for the most part. Is it normal for that to happen. The smoke just didnt smell like something that i would want to smoke meat on. any suggestions?
