:yahoo:hello, folks! We are Joan and Frank from Maryland, and we've chosen PinkiePetunia as our "handle" on this site because we just bought our first smoker and it's a Traeger pellet, the big pink pig! Rather than try to keep up with two names and passwords, we're sharing this one;today it's Joan writing to you. Yesterday was my first attempt at using Petunia. I fast cooked baby back ribs using Traeger's recipe and rub. Average, Memphis style, but not fall off the bone great. Today I'm sitting on the porch smokin a pork shoulder for pulled pork. It says 5 hours at 225, but just within the first 45 min, I'm having a hard time keeping the temp steady at that number. I might even throw on some eggs; smoked eggs sound verrrry interesting!

Happy Mother's Day to one and all. :36:

Hello and Welcome to our addiction.  A word of warning: There is no 12 step program for this one!  Many good folk here with a load of experience that they are more than willing to share.  If you have specific questions just start a thread and someone with experience will be along soon to offer advice.  All info you can provide us with such as smoker type, location and so on will help us answer any questions you may have.  Spend some time doing some research on the forums, tons of advice and recipes already available there.  We look forward to your contributions.  Have fun.  Good luck.  Keep Smokin!

Hi Joan and welcome to the SMF family. We have a number of pellet heads here that use the Trager and hopefully they will be able to give you some tips and tricks for maintaining an even temp in the Pig.

Enjoy the Smoke!

Hey Joan, a big welcome from East Texas. Nothing like your first smoker, As Dutch said there are a lot of pellet smokers on here with tons of experience.
