Smoke Blower

I've been reading this forum for 6+ months, debating what I want to do.  I have a vertical water smoker, and a regular barbecue pit.  The VWS works OK, but doesn't have much space.

I have a 250 gallon propane tank, that I am planning on cutting in half, and using half of it for a reverse flow smoker.

The reason I'm looking at reverse flow is that every single smoker I've seen ends up with you having to open the pit all the time to move food around, as it gets hot over on the firebox side, and too cool on the other side.  The reverse flow smoker seems like a great idea.

I have a MIG welder that I bought early this year, but haven't had a chance to use, so very much a newbie (completely new to welding  not just this welding unit).  I also have an oxy-acetylene torch and a cut off tool with plenty of discs.

The propane tank I bought had been sitting for a quite a while with water in it (the previous owner was planning on building a pit out of it as well).
