My name is Matt, currently living in Japan(US Navy). My uncle told me to change my grilling ways and go to smoking.

Brand new to it, and looking to get some good Ideas

Hello Mat from an old Navy vet. I started out in the 70's as a GMT (Bombs). They changed the name of the rate in the 80's to Weapons Technician, then did away with it completely with the end of the Cold War. It was a great job. I didn't realize it then, but those really were the good ol' days.

Your uncle is right and wrong. Smoking is great, but grilling also has its place. You've come to the right place to learn smoking though, the members here (both men and women) have definitely helped put me on the right path to becoming a passable smoker. They can help you with any question you may have about it, and if you participate you will really enjoy this forum.
