North west Florida in the house. I am new to these boards but not new to smoke. I have a few pound puppies in the back yard that I have acquired over the years and rotate out as I drag another home. My current armory contains a RecTec pellet pooper, a Weber kettle, an original Japanese clay fired kamado from the 60's and a gasser I call the flame thrower because I have modified it for high searing temps. There is an SV stick in the house that I bought recently to see what all the fuss is about so I have been known to drown a chuck or a brisket on occasion. I am an old Marine combat vet which explains the screen name.. well that and my normal callsign was already in use on these boards. My smoking resume spans 50 or so years and I still recall the day my dad handed me the rifle to go cull a Red Duroc for the boil barrel. Back then, we were dirt poor and we ate what we raised, hunted, or grew so when it comes to feeding sticks to a pit, I have callouses that have war stories. Anywho, I have been giving the site fly by's for the last couple months and decided that I would just stop in and say hi. I typically always have smoke rollin out back and I call it my turkey call... when I light a chimney, the neighbors come runnin. Look forward to the meeting you folks and see what you can teach this old dawg... Smoke on.

Welcome Devil Dog.I too am interested in seeing the old kamado. A friends dad had a green egg back in the late 70,s and man,the hams that came off that thing were crazy good ! He is a Devil Dog too.....

Thanks for the welcome wagon. I am at work right now so I don't have any close ups of the egg in the wild, but here is an area view of the patio I have been building on for the last year. I bought a new place last year and had to get rid of a couple of stick burners of mine, so to work though the grieving process I started designing and laying out an outdoor cook area. You can see the Kamado sitting in the stone counter that I built to hold it. I completely refurbished it a couple years back and gave it a new wrap. I will take some close up shots this afternoon and post up.

Thankee Sai.. took me nearly a year to lay that stone. Of course I had open heart surgery in the middle of it, but what ends well, is well I suppose
