Thank ya, Thank ya..... and they were awesome steaks!

You know, I messed up, I should have cut those steaks open for a shot. Had I though, everyone would have needed a drool towel.

I am actually calling these our "Bonus" years.

Most folks have never heard of Hamm's beer, I think it was thier's anyway. Its a cartoon type commercial and they are interviewing and old looking hill lady and she says, "No I can't rightly credit my longevity to good good clean healthy living because that my grandma over there with the buck-saw she's 110 and she smokes and drinks Hamm's beer every day!" That's my Pop.....  LOL He quit smoking in his late forties and quit drinking in his early 90's.  Now he's just bored..>>LOL

Didn't even check in yesterday, so I missed this, Foam! You're blessed to have your dad to cook for, and I'd be grumpy too if my boy insisted on taking my pic in a wheelchair! LOL
When people tell me nowadays that I remind them of my old man, it makes me proud, and I also have every intention of being a crusty old fart when I grow up ;-)
BTW those are some fine steaks and a fine automobile!

You know it might have been a Falstaff commercial. Pop and his brothers all drank Falstaff. Cause I can only see that bear and the little indian in my mind now with Hamm's

Wow Foamy great story and I kind of envy you my dad past 7 days from his 61st birthday but I'm taking up the part of being a crusty old fart as I'll be 73 this Sat. Same here just been to busy to follow whats going on. But I try to look in and keep up even though some reply's are late. Hams beer wow you brought back some memories with that. There was a plant in Baltimore, Md and of course living here in the LAND of PLEASANT LIVING we have Naty Bo and use to have one called Gunther. Great to preserve things of the past the car looks great. Yup steaks look great to me maybe a little over done but hey it was Pops day. Sorry for long reply.

In the service, one of my shipmates brought back from off-crew the strangest looking bottle of beer I have ever seen. Its held maybe 6/8 oz. and had a mini-wide mouth opening. The beer was fair (weak as sun tea), but the bottles were keepers. I wish I still had mine. It was a green bottle of Rolling Rock. I just cooked and can't even find a picture of those bottles. I'll keep looking, I see they are out now with a mason jar bottle of beer! I love folks like this!

Oh and thanks the steaks were great, and the car.... seriously its a labor of love. It was a sad day when there was nothing left to do but dust and shine it.

I still have vehicles I would like to do. Strangely since you mentioned a 37, a '37 GMC 5 window pick-up and a 67 Fairlane 500 GT Convertible. But when I do something, its gets pretty intense around here...LOL

See the ity bity baby bottle, We had like 10 cases of those.It had a pop top cap like lid, you pulled the ring and the whole cap came off.

He's part of a different generation Bear, I am sure you remember 'em. He never mentions his service but always goes to the reunion. He was part of a group called "Beach Masters", They were first ashore in a landing and told everyone where to go and what to do. From my experiences with him, he'd have been a cracker-jack at it....LOL According to what I was able to dig up, 95% of the Beach Masters didn't return. There was only 8 left at the last reunion 3 years ago.

Very nice post Foam, would love to have been at that car showing. The steaks look wonderful! I too have not been posting but I have been cooking. I did bone in ribeye steak for Father's Day. Did mine blackened style in an iron skillet.

Somebody has a nice collection of old beer bottles the ones I remember were 7oz and my dad drank his fair share.

Yup----"Beach Masters" wasn't a good job. Nobody wanted to stay on the beach long, as they were usually getting shelled heavily, and they had to stay there too long.

My FIL was like that, as he was a WW2 Ranger, and passed 2 years ago, at age 94.

You're a good Son making such a Great Steak for Pop on his day!

You know I have one of the below and its well seasoned! I use it with a SS mesh splatter shield. I love it. BUT its not really a summer option for me because although its handy as pockets on a shirt its hot as all get out. I get the skillet to about 500 and the same with the oven to finish.  BUT in the winter it works out great when the weather messes with my cookin.

They were just such a fun size. And anytime you offered someone a beer, give one and watch their face. LOL

For years and years we saved both Coco~Cola and Dixie Beer cans that were bottled with water and used after hurricanes in south Louisiana for safe drinking water.  Pop loved to pass one out to some unsuspecting soul and laugh.... LOL
