I recently found a propane tank junkyard near my house. I was going to build a reverse flow side box cooker using Feldons calculator but now I am beginning to reconsider.

I now want to build a reverse flow cooker with the FB in the rear/lower of the CC. Will Feldons calculator still work for the vents, exhaust, and opening calculations?

Thanks everybody

Thanks Dave.  I am going tank shopping this morning.

I decided to do the rear mounted FB/RF design witha 250 gallon propane take pictured above.  I came up with the following calculations, do they seem correct?

57,750 CCV

231 square inch FB/CC opening - 40"x5.75"

231 square inch area under the RF plate. (That seams awefully small for a cooker this big) (I am having trouble figuring out the actual size of the plate)

231 square inch area at the end of the R/F plate. 115.5 square inches at each end.

19,058 size of FB - 19"Hx17"Wx60"L

3ea 5" long air inlets

6" ID smoke stack 35" high.

Everything seams reasonable except the RF plate, I calculate a plate that was 82 inches long and 2 inches wide and I know thats just wrong.

Thanks

Hi Dave,

Ill get you the length at the welds when I get back to the location of the tank.  There is no data plate on the tank.
