Before I left the States I was living in Navy Housing on  Naval Air Station New Orleans.  My little smoker, which I couldn't bring with me, was fired up at least twice a month. Used it mainly for sausages but also homemade bacon.

Since arriving here in the PI my main concern was the type of wood that was available here. Answer.com told me I could use rambutan wood. If anyone knows of any other available wood please let me know. Thanks.

Good evening and welcome to the forum, from a rainy and cool day in East Texas. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.

Glad you joined the group. The search bar at the top of any page is your best friend.
About anything you wanna know about smoking/grilling/curing/brining/cutting or slicing
and the list goes on has probably been posted. Remember to post a QVIEW of your smokes.
We are all smoke junkies here and we have to get our fix. If you have questions
Post it and you will probably get 10 replies with 11 different answers. That is
because their are so many different ways to make great Q...
Happy smoken.

Welcome to SMF OldSalt45!  Looks like we came from the same background.  I haven't been back to the Philippines since the early 80's when we still had the bases there.  Flew out of Cubi Point at Subic for a short time.

Glad you're here and staying connected to what you love.  I've seen several posts in the past year from folks smoking in the P.I.  Definitely use the search feature to find their posts.  Who knows, you could be neighbors.

Have fun!

Ray
