 Hey everyone,

I'm Jake and Im a new member. Im very happy to be here so I can get some help from you guys-people with a lot of experience.

I'm not from the states but I have a passion for American BBQ (!). I live in Vietnam, and bringing that American BBQ culture to my home country is what I would love to do.

My and my girlfriend are risking our savings by opening a small BBQ place. We are a bit afraid, but we are exicted. It's gonna be a 40-50 person capacity place and we are gonna start with opening from 5-6pm only, until I get the hang out of it.

However, I haven't had a lot of experience working with popular equipment from the US. Smokers I have out here are self-built, a lot cheaper, but terrible quality. I have done some research and it seems like Weber products are great to start with. I am thinking of getting a Weber Kettle 22.5" and a Weber Ranch Kettle so that I can utilize them both as smokers and hot grills. I will be serving ribs, pulled pork, sausages and maybe brisket (it's a bit weird that people here don't seem to like bbq brisket...WHAT!!! I know right). I have seen people suggesting a couple WSM 22.5" but since I can't really use them as hot grills, I will have to spend some more money to buy a grill instead. What do you think?

And please, if there is any suggestions, advice, I would love to hear from you guys. I will have a few more questions coming up, but first thing first.

Again, I am very excited and happy to be here. Hopefully with our passion, we will be able to introduce American BBQ to more and more people here.

Have a good one everybody!

Good afternoon Sir, I would like to say welcome to this place. Sorry I can't help you with any great knowledge.

I am a newbie myself, but someone will be along here shortly that knows a lot more than I do.

Hugh amounts of very great knowledge on here, when you ask it will be answered.

Thank you for your recommendation. I really appreciate it.

Would you say smoked products from the kettle and the WSM have the same quality?  And how many SLC spareribs could you smoke at once in the WSM?

They are going to taste pretty much the same, but it is much easier to control the temp on a WSM, and there is a lot more space. If you use rib racks you probably could get 8-10 racks of ribs in a WSM.
