Easter Smoked Stuffed Turkey

Discussion in 'Poultry' started by colorado shawn, Apr 8, 2012.

  1. It's a beautiful spring Easter Day here in Colorado and my first smoke in a while.

I seasoned and stuffed an 12lb turkey for the family today and thought I'd share some pics with the forum.

I washed and patted dry with cold water then cover with vegetable oil.  Then I seasoned with a combo of salt, garlic powder, Slap Yo Daddy rub, black pepper, and rosemary.  I made my own stuffing which was a what was already in the fridge combo of onions, celery, corn, carrots, cilantro, whole wheat bread, oil and chicken broth seasoned with garlic salt, black pepper, rosemary and some brown sugar and honey.

It looks and smells good so far.  I cooked it on my Weber Smokey Mountain with charcoal and hickory wood chunks at 275 degree heat.

    Happy Easter everybody!

Shawn , a good looking Turkey , the stuffing looks good too , however it is chancy to Smoke a big bird with stuffing . pathogens could get in there so easily, and even though you washed her she could still have some bugs , take care .......

As Scarbelly said , please include your location so we can better help if you need ...

    Have fun and ......
  4. Hey yah I know that it isn't safe to eat it out of the bird.  I throw it in the microwave and get it way up in temp before serving to kill anything.  It came out moist and delicious.

I'll try to update my location, but that seems creepy why everyone cares about that.  I live in Erie, Colorado.

Shawn, it shouldn't seem creepy , this way we can keep track better of any hackers trying to break in on us... Just a safety precaution...[IMG]  .

You may live above Sea Level or in a colder climate ( some of our members are in other countries , so any other member in his area can give him a better answer and be able to help more...
