We just had our first big meal (Easter) in my Son's new kitchen.

He just finished installing it a few weeks ago.

The Prime Rib he made was excellent, but not smoked, because of some of the guests.

I got lot's more pics of the kitchen, but I won't swamp the forum with them.

Great looking prime rib, Bear, and the kitchen is as big as my whole house.

No wonder I'm always cooking outside.

I love prime rib, and yours look delicious. I also happen to build kitchens for a living, and this is a very nice one.
Thank You !

I was born to & raised by a Self-employed Carpenter. After my Beth Steel shop shut down (after 20 years),I worked for a Cabinet maker for about 8 years. It was just the two of us (two man shop). Then he got slow, and moved to South Carolina, so I started my own Cabinet shop. I had my shop for about 10 years, making kitchens, vanities, entertainment centers, etc.

Then my Son started his own Tower Corporation, and my wife quit her job, and I closed my shop, and we both went to work for our son.

Last Fall, our Son decided he needed a new kitchen. He looked at all of the Cabinet Companies within 50 miles of home, and all he could find was flakeboard crap. He asked me where he could get a kitchen like I used to make. I told him I'll check with the guy I used to work for, before I started my own shop, because he made basically the same cabinets, and I never burned that bridge. He had moved to South Carolina, but we were still friends. I called him up, and he said he'd be glad to give my Son a price.

So My son & I designed it. I laid it out, and drew it up (3 times, because the kid kept changing fancy appliances). I FedEx'ed the drawings to South Carolina. My Son said yes!

Six weeks later my Buddy delivered that Natural Cherry Kitchen from South Carolina to PA. My son ripped the old kitchen out, laid the ceramic tile floor, installed the cabinets, ceramic back splash, trim, etc by himself. He did a beautiful job. The only thing he didn't do was the electrical, and the Granite Tops.

He made some pretty good Prime Rib too, even though it wasn't smoked.

Thank You Uncle Lar & Scar!

Scar,

They say cats can see in the dark. If that is true, why does Cheech (the cat) have his headlights on?

Cool Story, and since you designed it, great job! It looks wonderful. The room is amazing. Great choice of tiles & backsplash too. You can design for me anytime. Do you miss building furniture?

In a way, but I miss chainsaw carving Bears even more. Health problems stopped it all.  Maybe one day..............

The hard part about cabinetmaking was making all wood cabinets, and competing with flakeboard junk from big outfits that buy their picture coated flakeboard by the train load.

All of my work was word-of-mouth from happy previous customers.

Meanwhile I smoke meat.

Same BS here up north. Gotta compete with big factories that produce crap. People don't seem to appreciate good craftsmanship anymore and the details that go into making a great piece of furniture.  Smoking meat is a lot less pressure for sure! Have a nice evening my friend.
