dry or wet rub

going to smoke a few chickens today( last min idea) so what would be best wet or dry and which one? Im going to smoke around 275 then up the heat at the end to crisp the skin 
 
With chicken I tend to use things like orange/lemon, chili and ginger which I mix with soft butter and squeeze between the skin and the meat before smoking. Not sure if that is classed as wet or dry,
