Hi all,

Just finalizing my uds build and wanted to know if it needs to be covered to prevent rust. I painted it with high temp spray paint. Just curious.

Thanks

The outside will be ok, but the inside will rust if it isnt seasoned yet.

I have a coverd patio over mine, but i do get rain on it from time to time and it hasent rusted yet. The black pipe nipples do have a little rust though. I may paint or just oil them.

I don't cover my smokers.

We have a damp and humid climate in the winter.  Covers can impede airflow.

You can imagine the rest.

Good luck and good smoking.

Thanks. I painted all exterior so I should be OK then. Any suggestions on seasoning? Was going to smoke a fattie.

I would spray the inside all over with Pam ,and burn a small basket of charcoal and wood just to coat and flavor every thing. You will love the UDS.

Thanks, can't wait to try it out this weekend. I'll post a pic when I put it together tonight. Had to let the paint dry.
