We (my father and I) have injected several turkeys with TQ and some other spices, and then smoked them, they all turned out fantastic.  I was really wanting to brine this one too, since I have started brining my Chicken I wouldn't think of doing it any other way.

So I am wondering if this is redundant or if some of you do both. So as the title says do any of you do both, if so do you inject before or after the brine.

As always

Thanks

Aaron

Personally I do one or the other not both

My turkey is in the brine right now and I have decided to inject it with Cerole Garlic Butter before smoking it...First time to do both...

I have not done a turkey but have done chickens brined and injected with great results....In fact I have one in the brine right now that I will be doing tomorrow!

Thanks for the replies guys, I got a 14 lb bird down in 3 gallons of slaughterhouse brine right now, so that part has been decided.  I am thinking I will probably inject tomorrow night and drop back in the brine till the next morning.  If anyone sees a problem of going back into the brine after the injection go ahead and speak up.

Thanks again

I have injected and brined many times if the size of the turkey warrants it to make sure the breasts get cured all the way through.  See my "Cured Turkey" link in my sig line!   My brine contains Cure #1 so it cures the turkey, just like TQ does.
