I just put my OK J LH together, and the porcelain grates came damaged, rubbed raw in about 6 spots. I just called them, the grates are on backorder.. and within 3-4 weeks i will be getting my warrantied replacements.

Ive always have been a fan of the expanded metal grates... how they hold up, make the meat look, etc.. Does anyone here make them? i called a local fab shop and they had no idea what i was looking for, so i figured id ask around here.

the manual says both grates are 19"x23" and 19"x17.09" but i haven't checked physically if that's accurate.

I would be ok with two 19"x20.05", unless theres some reason to keep them 60%/40%.

I can't suggest anyone that would make them but Google Images has hundreds of pics of Expanded Metal Smoker Grates your fab shop guy can see for examples of what you are looking for...JJ

The expanded metal is a pretty stock item at any steel supply store, and most hardware stores, My brother in law went to a recycling place and found a piece that was clean, and unused. super inexpensive.

My first charcoal basked was a piece from Ho*me De*pot, and could be cut with a grinder or tin snips.

Best of luck to you.
