Hi folks.

I just came across this web site and signed up ASAP ! Just love it.

A friend of mine just spent $1,300 on a brand new Treager smoker, used it once and then his wife decided that they should become vegetarians. Now ... I am the proud owner of a brand new smoker.

I used it this weekend and my ribs were awesome, but I have a question about the temperture control, and cannot seem to get the correct answer. Maybe someone in here can help.

The temperature setting has many different temps. for cooking, and has one that says "smoke".
My question is that when I set the temp true to 275 degrees, am I still smoking or am I just using the smoker as an oven?

What if I want to smoke at 275 degrees? Can I do that? Or do I have to set the adjustment to smoke? I just can't seem to find the answer. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Paul

The smoke setting is for below about 180 and is the initial start up when turning on the cooker. As with most pellet eaters you don't get as much smoke at higher temps but you are still smoking. With my traeger texas elite I supplement the higher temp cooks with an AMAZN PELLET TUBE SMOKE GENERATOR and I get exactly the amount of smoke flavor I need. So, yes, you are still smoking at 275. Best of luck.
