where can I get all the good woods you all smoke with? I live in FL so I mostly smoke with Oak or Hickory that I can buy from homedepot or walmart. I do like the Oak but I'm to sure I really like the hickory a hole lot and I really don't like Mesquite . I would like to try some apple and maybe some cherry wood or any other wood that is good.

I chop and process my wood but i build-remodel-landscape homes.I wouldnt mind trading red oak ,cherry, for some orange, nectarine etc.I just bought 25 pounds of excellent pecan from woodworker in arkansas-off craigslist, check these type of sights etc.
This is some of my wood-constantly looking for it. Top-bottom hickory.apple, redoak, cherry, pecan(craiglist)

that is an awesome set up man. I wish there was a easy way to trade you I can get tons of good citrus wood. I would really like to try some of that red Oak

The post office will ship 5 pounds for set price and if we pay the postage each way its cheap.I have to go but P.M. me or i will you tomorrow and we can set something up for future,I have a cord of ready to use cherry and its split (i cook alot of whole hog) and i would package and send-for some orange or citrus.Let me check the price from post office but a 12x12 inchx6 inch box is cheap to ship threw regular mail.I would be interested definetly in citrus wood.I have 3/4 cord of 1/2 dry red oak as well.Lets do something.

I buy a lot of my wood at a local place that sells wood to restaurants. Their chunks are nice solid fist sized pieces that come in a large "onion" bag, and they last me a long time.

I can also pick up a nice sized bag of chunks at Ace Hardware...they have a surprising variety of woods and a decent seasonal display of grills, smokers, and other goodies.

I have recently been scanning craigs list for larger quantities, as I want to build a stick burner for competitions. I stumbled into a truck load of apple wood for free...I just had to go pick it up! If you don't look on craigs list, you should.

There are a lot of places on the web that sell different varieties of smoking woods...just google smoking chunks and see what pops up.

Ebay has a lot of people that sell wood as well. In a pinch you could entertain buying something from there.

Good luck,

yo lenny search craigslist for pecan...someone in largo is selling wheelbarrow sized loads for $20. I'm going to get on it when I get a chance to shoot over there next.

I missed letting you guys around st pete know I was driving down at the beginning of March this year because of the crash on smf. Have some apple and cherry stocked up. I'll see what I get this year and maybe next March we can trade a box of apple / cherry for some orange / pineapple wood.
Tried hinting that I'd like some on another thread , but my wife and Mom just left st pete beach yesterday .
Hope we can work it out next year.

I would be love to trade with you. Pinapples don't really grow on trees but I can definitely hook you up with plenty of orange/lemon/lime/citrus wood.

OOps , brain wasn't engaged , was thinking grapefruit but typed pineapple . Any citrus sounds good.
Be back in st pete beach next year at the beginning and end of March again next year.

hey phill next year give me a shout a few weeks before you come down I have a lot of fruit trees in my yard I'll be happy to cut you a few stacks. gettin ready to do some good trimmin on the big grapefruit tree this month.
