Do any of you use fine screen wire for protecting your food from getting so called dirty from ashes off your charcoal ? I use it and it works like a champ . Just askin what you use and if it's better than fine screen wire ?

Yesterday was the day I nickeled and dimed my MC at several sites. Yard and Pool has something called FrogMats. I'm going to give them a try. They're not intended to keep ashes off you meat - they're more of a non-stick surface. Also keeps small stuff like shrimp and nuts from falling through the cracks.

Once I get a chance to try it out, I'll post something here.

I use it on my ECB to keep ashes off my pretty chicken . When the juices drop on the ashes they tend to splatter ... and up they go ...

When I smoke turkey I wrap it in butter-soaked cheese cloth. I only have wood chunks in an electric smoker, but it helps keep it from turning black and also helps to somewhat crisp up.

here it is

Not sure if a variation of the cheesecloth soaked in ???? would do the same

I'm a gasser and don't have that problem again.

Seems like a good ideal . Am gonna try that for my next yard bird cook . Plus I am gonna put the water pane under the yard bird but dry , thanks to Fatback Joe for leading me straight .
