Hi all i am new to smoking and planning on building my own electric smoker out of mahogany planks left over from another job i am fishing for ideas or tips on the electric side of the build like what to use cheers jim

Depending on the size you are looking to build a good element is the Brinkman 1500 watt replacement element. If you're looking to do sausage jerky etc you will want a good PID to control the element. Auberins.com is a good place to look for those. The plug n play PID's are the simplest way to go.

Best to figure out what you really want to smoke then go from there.
