But I think it has a place in every forum of free information exchange in America. The insidious encroachment on the right to keep and bear continues

This action had many states passing laws that stated that citizens could not be disarmed in a time of emergency. It is hard to believe the number of brainless people who can't tell when they are given illegal orders against citizens of the USA. I just wish the ones giving those orders would have been prosecuted.

That is very upsetting. Our freedoms to bear arms are being unjust fully denied. The stories that were told there prove that. When asked if you have a weapon and you answer yes, to have them confiscated proves it. These people were not hiding weapons, criminals would hide that fact they had weapons. Common sense was not exercised nor do I believe it is in many cases.

Military and law enforcement subconsciously believe only they should be entitled to carry weapons legally. Everyone else is a felon if carrying a firearm.

I am a firm believer in the right to keep and bare arms and have never and would never take away a law abiding citizens guns. I have been a deputy sheriff for 17 years and I resent this remark. It is the most flippant statement I have seen on this forum in any regard. What a load of BS.

I don't even know how to respond to such an outragous breach of our Contistitutional Rights. In case such as this how does one know who the bad guy is and how do you pretect yourself?

Gotta respectfully disagree with you on that. As a "law enforcement" I whole heartedly support private gun ownership, and CCDW. I wish more people would excercise their rights, there would be much less crime guarenteed. If you outlaw guns only outlaws will have guns!

I personally think that the illegal gun confiscation during Katrina was perpitrated by small groups of inept police taking orders from inept supervisors, and was not a systematic gun confiscation, just as rouge groups of police killed left behind animals, and stole/looted from stores.

It's like anything a few bad apples spoil the whole basket.

I would say that SOME do, Mo. Power trips if anything. Like the guy who beat the hell outta me while I was cuffed. All 6'3" of him and 5'7" of me. Long story, but I lost some respect for sure. But they ain't all bad. Remember a good soldier, or police officer, for that matter, is trained not to think, <within reason>but to follow orders.

Actually, her correct response would have been for her to announce that she had a weapon the moment they showed up. As a matter of fact, if I face an intruder, that will be their only hope for me not launching a volley. They'd better speak up and be convincing. After that, I'm at the mercy of the jury.

From all appearances, her stating that would not have changed the outcome...well, as far as the confiscation, anyway. Maybe they would not have checked her hard into the boards. <Hockey season's coming, baybay!>

I am not indifference to both of your beliefs, I feel it is happening though and I am not a gun nut. I have a small collection; every single one I own and have in my possession is currently legal. Laws for citizens owning firearms that are semi-automatic (not fully automatic) are on the list of bills to change, the Remington 870 12 ga. Shotgun (a pump style shotgun that just about everyone has owned or owns?) is on there for crips sake. If the voters start approving on this, it will just be until next time bills are brought about and eventually approved that ore gun models and calibers will be banned for legal minded straight thinking people to own. Just my thoughts, not looking to dispute.

The more I think about this topic, I am sorry I even replied to it originally. I have strong feelings of gun ownership and my thoughts do not belong on these forums. I am not bowing out in defeat mind you, I will keep my thoughts to the proper forums. My wish is to share smoke with each and everyone of the SMF members someday.

Perhaps I should not have posted this on this site at all. But I still feel EVERYONE should be aware. Rights disappear quite often thru ignorance/indifference. Knowledge- and awareness- is power.

Unintended Consequences -- John Ross is a book everyone should read regarding just how many pieces of the whole pie of rights gun owners have lost. It not only is filled with verifiable facts, it is also a very good story about a young man brought up in the 'gun culture' who in his adult life, gets put into a very difficult situation with the authorities. I cannot recommend this book enough to both gun owners and folks that are a little more on the anti-gun side.

ya know bro.. in america we believe in beer, bbq, buckshot,& pickup trucks....i can't think of a gun hating politically correct person that fires up wood & meat on a wkend... so i fully approve of the subject(but thats my opinion).
now on the other hand i was born in texas & they had a flag back in the 1830's that stated"come & take it" ... thats my opinion on firearms- "we the people, reserve the right to keep & bear arms......PERIOD.

Nods. Got some prayers to say today. I'll toss an extra one in for just a little more understanding and patience. Lord knows I could use some.
