Hello everyone,
I just bought the ET-73 remote thermometer as advised by SMF. I need to ask how or where do you put the smoker probe???? I dont want to just lay it on the grate.

Thanks,
Vic

I'll be trying my 73 tomorrow for the first time also. I've seen pic's of them stuck thru apple's, potato's and blocks of wood with a hole in it. Hope this helps.

Trying to remember didn't it come with a clip that holds the probe and clips to the rack

Mine did, little metal clip, I clip it right to the grate
But I have used a block of wood too when I use it in my oven
where the grates are too wide for it to clip to

The clip doesn't work all that well depending on your grate space width.

Use a block of wood or potato and push the probe through the block so that an inch or two of the probe is sticking out.

The temp is measured at the tip of the probe (or very close to it).

Dave

thanks for the reminder Piney. DUH, CRS I guess....I'm an hour into some buckboard bacon and I love this thing...ain't been out to check temps yet. just a peak out the window to see smoke.

I use the clip... under the grate so it doesnt take up space for food. It rides just about an inch below the food and gives an accurate reading .
