Did I ruin my new UDS?

I just finished my first UDS build yesterday following a lot of great advice from this site. Everything went pretty well with drilling holes, painting, cleaning and hardware installation but after my initial seasoning, I encountered a small problem that I'm not sure how to proceed.

It appears that there was still some adhesive remaining inside the rim of the lid after I removed the gasket. When seasoned the drum, it heated up the adhesive and it ran a little bit inside the drum and sealed it to the top of the drum. After I got the lid off, there is still dried adhesive inside the rim and a long that edge of the top of the drum.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this adhesive out of the rim? I'm assuming it should be removed. I was thinking, I could just heat it up with a propane blowtorch and wipe it off.

Is there anything else I could put in the lid rim to keep from happening. (I.e.high temp silicon, Aluminum foild,etc)

Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I'm hoping I didn't ruin it and have to start all over.

Try a wire wheel on a drill inside the lip of the lid. Then do a clean burn again

As @nepas  said try a wire wheel. If that doesn't have enough power to get through the baked on adhesive then you can step it up to a grinder. As long as you get back down to bare metal and season it you should be fine.
