Thanks David. I am wanting to grind them up to use in rub.

I figured that. They won't grind well till they dry, Unless you want big chunks. Most of the time a cut. then air dry my peppers then grind. I have a dehidrator. Just air dry is free and you don't have to clean it. When i grind my hot peppers. I throw some rice in the grinder and give it a grind.

To clean the oils out of the grinder. Then use it for a chicken or fish coating.

Happy smoken.

David

Slice them really thin... place on a baking sheet and put them in your freezer, if it is a self defrosting freezer.....  in about a month, they will be dry...   Freeze drying in your pantry....

After washing and cutting the carrots, steam the carrot slices for three minutes using a steamer or a pot. Preheat your oven,Lay the carrot slices on the cookie sheet Set the carrots in the oven and leave the oven door propped open a couple inches. Check the carrots every 30 minutes. The drying process is slow and can take six to ten hours. Remove the cookie sheet from the oven when the carrots are fully dehydrated, allow the carrot slices to cool completely.Store the dehydrated carrots in a glass jar with a tight-fitting lid.BEST OF LUCK....

This time of year. I'd run them thru a salad shooter and let them air dry. Don't have a salad shooter. use a knife.. It shouldn't take long to air dry.

Happy smoken.

David
I also use the same method and it's not so hard .Rather than putting in oven , you have to crush it by using shooter .Then let it dry by keeping in a dry place .Whenever it becomes full dry , preserve it for further use. Good luck!
