A few pics of my new plywood smoker. Seven racks made out of plain steel expanded metal with 1/4 inch rod around the edges. All done view from front. Inside Using a turkey fryer burner. But have to get a new hose that doesn't have a timer on it. Not sure if my Amazen smoke tube will work there or not. Do you guys think it will?

Looks great!  Just my initial thought on the smoke tube.  In my limited experience (4 times) mine gets pretty hot while making smoke.  I just wonder if it will start burning/charing those little wood supports its sitting on.

somebody with more experience than me will surely chime in soon.

Nate.

I'd be more worried about the box burning up.

Is your burner supply line inside the smoker approved for high temp?

Line the bottom end of your smoker with fire brick or some other fire proof material. At least up to the bottom of the door opening.

Hard pipe the burner inside the smoker to the outside.

Your smoke tube should be fine as placed. They work well up to pit temps of 285. That small one though will
Only get 2-4 hours of smoke depending on pit temp.

Honestly that size burner for your pit is too big. If you do use it. You'll want to get a needle valve for it. Post thirteen in this thread has a good one:

One more note on safety, a flame out shut off switch is a good idea with propane. Especially if you plan on sealing up all the cracks and door leaks. There are several good threads here on that.

The regulator on the hose has a knob for adjustment. Same as a needle valve?? I will get a flame out switch.
Thank you!
