Custom Smoke House handle and mechanism

Hello everyone.

I have several ideas to build my own handles and keeper inside the doors but I was wondering if there were an inexpensive solution as "kits" to close your swing doors. If I run short of time, I am sure I will swing that way. If not...I create.

I have 3/16x3x3 angle iron with 1/4" plate doors.  Much appreciated and have a good evening.

My brother built my doors.  This is how he built them.  

With your welding knowledge,  it should be simple.  He even worked them so the handles were vertical when closed.

For the handle he used 1/2 in. steel rod  and welded a washer inside and out to hold it in the door.  Bent it on a angle outside.  I ordered the stainless coil and put them on so it wouldn't be hot to open.

The keeper is a simple piece of angle iron on an angle to receive  the latch

Something to keep in mind.

When you turn your handle down, make sure it doesn't hit the lower door when in the vertical position.     Just a thought.
