I just found out my vegan, Dairy Free, and Gluten free sister-in-law will be coming over for a barbecue this weekend with the rest of the family.  I have no idea what to do for her on the grill but I don't want to leave her out.  If anyone has any ideas or experience in this are I could really use the help.  The only thing that comes to mind is portobello mushroom after that I'm done.

Make her some ABT's, minus the cheese, bacon and all the other good stuff... Fill those jalapeños up with diced habaneros and Serrano chiles!!

All joking aside you could make a dairy free version of elotes asados (street corn) you have to take it off the cob and skip the cheese. Use olive oil instead of butter. Might be good.

My wife likes smoked tofu, she was a vegetarian for 14 years until she had one of my smoked burgers. She also likes the soy sausages grilled. Course if your SIL is true vegan you won't be able to use the grill for her food if it's ever had meat on it...

dirtsailor2003- I never thought of soy sausage and the corn sounds good if I can do it right. Thanks for the input and yes she asked me to clean the grill well and cook her stuff first.

I'm going to post my street corn recipe in a few minutes so look for it in the side dish forum or veggie forum. It requires cheese but I know there should be an alternative.

grillmonkey- Don't worry I'm working on it, I plan on stuffing her pillow with smoked bacon..........It won't be long

Buy a box of Corn Flakes and add water if she is not happy she will eat what comes off the smoker....Then again she can not eat and just enjoy every ones company...Her Choice

Wrong place to ask a question like that...unless you were looking for Friday night entertainment.

Edit:
In case this is a real question: grill an eggplant until blackened all around; peel the skin; mash the "flesh" with garlic onion and olive oil. Serve with cornmeal.

Good luck!

Yikes!! A vegan, Dairy Free, and Gluten free sister-inlaw...best thing is to meet her at the frond door say hello and exchange other pleasantries and then bid her farewell. Tell her you have no suitable food for her and don't want to be responsible for her decline. If that doesn't go over too well chop up the box the cornflakes came in, whack the pieces on a plate and see how that goes.

Alternatively various seeds, nuts and tofu might do. You can buy gluten free bread and imitation beef (nut loaf) as well, but disguise your face when purchasing so as not to give out the wrong impression to the locals.  Good luck.

My wife is a celiac with alot of food allergys. I have trouble figuring out what kind of stuff I can make for her. Basically relearning how to make alot of different things. Takes alot of research

Over here in Oz there's a Celiac society which gives heaps of info to those afflicted. Also another good place to look is 7th Day Adventist sites. They can be very helpful also. Good Luck.

I come from a very big family 8 kids.On weekends we would have up to 25 other kids at the house spending the nite or just showing up.My Mom would just count heads and start cooking she never asked WHAT people wanted.Mom just cooked and put it on the table every one left full and I never heard one person say I dont eat this or I need special food.To todays standard and we lived on the ranch Vegan,Gluten Free or Dairy Free was never spoken of.If a person wants to be special they need to do it on their own time and leave the rest of us alone........

Growing up we ate what was cooked or we found our own. It is nice of you to consider her though.

My engagement barbecue we tried to satisfy everyone. Ended up with ribs for me, brisket for the Jewish friends, chicken for the people who didnt eat pork or beef, and salmon for the non meat eaters.

That was the last time. Now if you don't like what is on the menu bring whatever you like. You can use the grill when I am done with it.

Perfect solution.....

Here here. I can't believe what kids get away at the dinner table now days. I come from a family of nine and mum ws a good plain cook. No chance of not eating what was put in front of you though.   But with my size family it was best to eat what ever was there on your plate and do it quickly before the brothers either side of me scooped it up and scoffed it.

And a NAUGHTY STEP   ha...it just didn't exist. The only naughty step we had were the ones we had to climb when we were called inside for a strap across the behind. That was the order of the day for playing up.

I wish it was just personal choice I that I could help her discover the error in her ways but it is a health issue. That being said my not above serving her a cardboard box as suggested above.  keep any Ideas coming I just might get a menu put together yet, it's not as hopeless as I thought.  I got this idea from the street corn Dirtsalior2003 was talking about, so tell me what you thing. Take a portobello mushroom cap stuff it with the street grilled and topped with a soy chesse placed on a gluten free bun served open faced.

A good friend solved this problem years ago for his young daughter.

He grilled hamburgers, put them on the plate, and said, "That's what's for dinner!".

What the he.....?

He wasn't playing with power trips from anybody!

Good luck and good smoking.

I'd skip the bun. The shroom is more than enough.
