So I have a birthday coming up and I love me some BBQ tools/gadgets.  I was wondering outside of the cooker what you guys cant live without?  What are your favorite things to use at competitions and in your back yard?

If you don't have one, I'd recommend a good digital thermometer.

The Thermapen by Thermoworks is one of the better ones on the market....little pricey but nice.

If someone else is buying it who is not a "bbq foodie" type, make sure they get the Maverick 732 as that is the current (new) style.  The model 73 is the older style and the 732 has better range for the wireless.  You still see the model 73 in stores and online sometimes.

Todd Johnson is a sponsor of the forum and he sells the Maverick.  He often has a extra discount for forum members too, so try the search function to see if there is one still good.  If you need a pellet tube or tray,, or the new Matz product, Todd is also the man to talk to.

Here is Todd's website page for the Maverick ET-732

    This X 1 Bazillion !!!..

As a fairly experienced smoker, I love my Maverick's, but life could go on without them.  I dont really need a therm to tell me when my meats are done, no more than I would need to cut into a steak to know when it's mid rare.

But an Amazn smoker ?  I picked up an 18" and 12" AMNTS recently and smoking changed instantly for me.  Fill it, light it, put it in the smoker and let it do it's thing.  No more reloading the wood pan every time you turn around.

The above is good but hang around here long enough and you will want a Grinder and Vertical Sausage Stuffer. The Kitchener #12 is a good start as well as the Grizzly 5Lb Stuffer...JJ

If you are getting an A-MAZ-N smoke generator, add a hand help butane torch. Believe me you'll appreciate it.
