Considering upgrading to a Cookshack

I have a MES 30 right now.  I've been using it for about 3.5 years or so.  It's starting to have some troubles.  Door hinge, and a few other minor things.  Still works, but I'm seriously considering upgrading for more capacity, and better quality.  I'm currently favoring the Cookshack Amerique, but I don't see a whole lot of mention of it here when I did a search.  While it's costly, I learned long ago when I finally bought a Weber grill, that it's better to spend more once, then less many times.

Any other higher-end electrics I should be looking at.  I don't really have the patience to work with something like an offset, and like the idea of the set and walk away feature of the Amerique.

I had an Amerique once upon a time.  Well built machine and CookShack knows how to stand behind what they sell.  Expect a very moist cooking environment.   I was never crazy about the watt burner and have had some other cookers in between but I'm very satisfied with my current pellet cooker.  FYI from time to time Cookshack will have a "re-manufactured" unit available....I've always thought this was a way to discount without discounting but I could be wrong.  Patience is a virtue though.

I've had my AmeriQue for about 2 years now and I couldn't be happier.

I went through many cheap smokers before buying my first Cookshack about 10 years ago, it was a Smokette. I used it for 8 years with no problems then against my better judgment I sold it for what I paid for it and it is still smoking away.

I just got back from a month in Missouri where I ran the AmeriQue almost every day smoking butts, briskets, ribs, or meatloaves. The only breaks the AmeriQue got was when I fried fish or chicken

The all night smokes were done while I was 10 miles away sleeping in a nice comfortable air conditioned hotel.

I never gave my smoker a second thought. Set it and forget it at its best. I was starting to get quite a teasing about the slaving I was doing to create all those wonderful meals

    I say go for it

I have a smokette I bought maybe 10 or so years ago, and love it, it is a humid smoker, but you can open the door to leave some of it out occasionally. I want an Amerique but not sure I really need one. I say if you want to upgrade you can't beet the CS units.

Dave, need has nothing to do with it.

After I upgraded to the AmeriQue I doubled the time I spent using a smoker

It really is that easy to use

I like that!  Very few of NEED what we have but it sure is fun to use!

Yeah, need has little to do with this.  I've done some great que on the MES, but I just feel it's not going to hold up much more than another year, and I think this would be a perfect birthday present :)

Best part is the wife is fine with it.
  8. I too had a Cookshack and do regret selling it, but now that I'm where I am the use of electric is just not feasible due to the high cost of electricity here (.45 kwh)...  As mentioned above they are a set and forget smoker...easy to use and once you get the hang of how to set it up (adding foil, how much wood, where to do the probes, what temp setting means what, etc...)  life is easy.  Good luck on your decision.

I've never heard anything negative about a Cookshack, except they are a little pricey.

    Birthday present?

    That says it all.

OK, bit the bullet, and the Amerique + stand will be en route tomorrow, though who knows when it will show up at the doorstep :)
