So I've had my mes40 for a year now and the control panel bubbled up from condensation with some of stress cracks around the front panel. Masterbuilt was cool with their warranty and sent me a control unit fast...other parts on back order. My local Costco has their display model landmann 40" electric for 300 (99 off for it being display model). I'm not coming at the bit for a new smoker. The mes has served me well. But would hate to pass a deal on something that could be better. Thoughts?

There are many options available.  You could stick with the MES since they seem pretty good at sending out parts or replacement units. There are gassers, and other electric smokers like Cookshack, SmokinTex and Smokin-it.  The CS will hit 300 degrees (some of them) and the other two peak at 250, all are stainless steel in/out and insulated.  They are listed from high to low cost.

Check out the sites and pricing. All three are good units with a strong following.  Good luck.
