Well after a few successful pulled pork weekends, I finally decided to attempt a brisket.  I love pulled pork but brisket has always been my BBQ love.

First of all let me start with saying thank you to everyone on this forum.  I have spent the last several days pouring over this site looking for tips.  I can not tell you how much help it has been.

I started with just a little over a ten pounder from Wal-mart of all places.  Didn't want to spend too much on my first one considering I didn't know exactly what I was doing.  $3 a pound wasn't too bad of a price.  Rubbed it down with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder last night.  Sealed it up and into the fridge it went.

Threw it on the grill about 7 this morning and tried to keep the temp around 220-230. Around 9 hours later pulled it out of the cooler and sliced it up.

I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.  For being my first brisket, it's tender, it pulls apart nice and easy and has a great flavor.  Again I have to give credit to this site and to all of you for giving me the tips and advice necessary to pull this off.  Now, time to eat!!!!

Looooooooking goooooood. I'm glad you conquered your fear. Brisket is a special treat, and yours looks great. It's amazing how much info, and friendly people are on this site.

That is an amazing first brisket. The charcoal in my smoker had more juice and was softer than my first brisket. What did you think if the flavor? What wood did you use? The dog sure thinks that brisket should fall on the floor.

Flavor was really good.  I used mainly hickory but threw in a few handful of cherry wood chips occasionally.  The dog got some fat.....THAT'S IT!!  She was probably hoping I screwed it up lol.

I hope you have gone from fear to confidence with a great result like this. Kudos and points!
