I went to Cabelas.com so I could order some food grade lubricant for my new 11 lb stuffer.  When I got there, to find the lube, I entered the keyword "Sausage" into the search window.  It showed the lube, which i put into my shopping cart, but it also showed this:

Sigh, on sale down $80 from &170 to $90.  They won, I ordered the 20 lb meat mixer, too.

Looks like a good deal. I'm gonna need to put an addition on my house before I buy another meat processing gadget..

Nice deal

BTW, my bride told me, "You forgot to tell them that I said, 'you dummy, go ahead and do it!".... I do love her.

This is awesome. I've been looking for one in that price range. Can I ask what shipping charges were? I think you just made my day.

I got that same mixer for christmas. Just used it tonight to make breakfast and it was so much nicer to mix it in that then with my hands. No more cold hands.

Nice grab...... I see the 44 lb mixer is on sale for $229 that I have been wanting to try but I just cant justify the labor of more clean up of equiptment, also another process to transfer meat to another piece of equipment then back. Those gray tubs are great for mixing and storing and there a breeze to clean.....

Good luck with the new toy

Retread,

I'm glad I found this thread.

I have a question about the mixer for you & anybody else who has one.

Here goes:

I was very close to buying one of those (20 pound mixer) about a year ago, but I read on one of the ads that it shouldn't be used on less than 11 pounds of meat.

That made me not buy it, and I never asked anyone about it.

My question---Is this really a problem?

If so, is it because the mixing paddles would miss the meat if it was only 8 or 10 pounds of meat, therefore mot mix it properly?

Thanks,

Bear

I have debated the use of one of these mixers, the reason is I have a commercial hobart mixer that i use for my grinding and mixing but my son says it warms up the meat to much I disagree and think that he is doing something wrong such as mixing or grinding to fast or to much. Do you have the problem with the mixer you bought?

A word on these mixers.

I work for Cabelas for 3 years in the camping dept where the smoking processing areas were mine to keep up. I took one of these mixers home for 60 days to try before you buy and found that the brass bushing on both sides shaved brass into the meat? Cabelas was made aware of this but to this day i do not think the issue was fixed. We did get quite a few back with some of these bushing issues and other things. If you can make some food grade teflon bushings it would be a good mixer.

NOTE

For this mixer to work the way its supposed to it should be loaded with 20 lbs, anything less the meat clumps into a ball in the middle.

MY 02 cents

I have the same mixer.

I use it for as little as 5 lbs, but that pushes it 10 lbs is great

20 lbs is doable but can be hard

I loaned it out to a friend and it took him a while to figure out it only mixes in one direction

Me too!

I was mixing backwards and cussing the stupid mixer.

Stupid Me Instead

I works well for the money
