Since Sunday I have been helping with his first failed butt on the phone many times. He has a MES also and asked for help.

Today was the day he did it. We talked several times tonight through out the smoke.

He just pulled the bone and it was done.

I don't know if he will be posting or not, no camera, but if he does without the pics, I know it did happen. So, BBQBUBBA be nice, it did happen, I was there on the phone.

    Conrats, hillbilly43

Glad to help ya through that.

A friendly way to put a smile on a face you can't see. You've probably got him out of the corner and into the main arena, good way to go Ron.

That is a great story of one helping another for no personal gain. Glad to have such good people on this site.

Just a short public thanks to Ron for his guidance and continued support which resulted in a nice finished product early this morning. Per his instructions the bone was easily removed. Sampled the product this morning, wish the old MOP could have had first taste but distance too great between Kentucky and New Mexico. Gave several pounds to my neighbors,(retired, WWII navy vets). Everyone says it is delicious.. Could not have done it without MOP telephone help. Am looking forward to the next cooking project assignment from the MOP in the near future. Sorry no pictures, but not sophisticated at this stage. Still learning curve as a beginner and now can maybe take a few more baby steps before stumbling.... HB

Thanks Erain for the points and everyone that responded. I tried to respond to all but had trouble, usually can do multiple responses, not tonight.

This started saturday around noon. I called Don as I have unlimited long distance. We chatted a bit then we went through this thread page by page.

He was taking notes and I knew he would do good. Then yesterday I knew he had been rehearsing things in his mind since, when talking to him. Over the course of the evening we shared a few brews together and when I told him to pull the foil and check the bone pull out, I knew he did a good job and we said good night. He followed everything to a T from the Vadalia rub, the beef base and onions to watching temps.

Thanks to all, and to Don for giving me the opportunity to help out a newbie. It was an honor, and glad to be able to help. You were a good student![IMG]

What's your next venture? Brisket, Canadian Bacon, Ribs, pick something you are affraid of and we'll do it again. It was a blast.

That what this site is about, learning and sharing.

Thanks for watching, even though there is no QVIEW.
