Hey SMF,
My name is Chris, my family and I live in Northern Colorado. I have two young boys 5 & 2 that I am sure I will have to feed a lot someday. With that, I did a lot of growing up in the south Florida/Georgia. I loved BBQ and smoked meats, my wife, however, is not a big fan. In our second pregnancy, I was eating some great BBQ from a great local joint called "Georgia Boys" and I finally turned her into a fan.
Now instead of always paying the big bucks at the restaurants I would like to figure this smoking thing into something I can make for the family.
A lot of my co-workers and friends have purchased the middle Treager for $699 and I wasn't ready to invest that type of money on this yet, so I just picked up the 30" Masterbuilt Propane Smoker from amazon. Thanks to the forum, I am ready to get this guy seasoned, I also picked up the Maverick thermometer and the Amazen 12" Pellet Tube. I will also buy the gasket material and be ready to seal up the door as needed.
I think I am going to start with some ribs and pulled pork. I also love spicy hot links. I will just look forward to getting a feel for the whole low and slow thing and adjusting to getting smoke flavor into our favorite meats.
Thanks for all the info you guys have provided on the forums.
