Hello All-

I have a Masterbuilt Electric Smoker. For a beginner, it works pretty well. My biggest complaint is it doesn't get smokey enough. I am constantly refilling the smoking tray, and still doesn't quite get there. I know that with an electric smoker, it is only going to do so much.

Until I can upgrade my smoker, I was curious if I am better off cold smoking it for an hour or two before got to Heat Smoking. I have an A-Maze-N cold smoker, which does generate a lot of smoke in my masterbuilt. Would this work?

Thanks,

Jake

Jake,

I don't think cold smoking larger cuts of meat such as a pork butt is a good idea.  You need to watch the 4 hour rule carefully.

I thought about doing that, but I heard there can be some safety issues having the heat on with amps going inside the unit.
