But if you watch the cooking shows all their smokers look dirty and the grates have all the stuff for cooking. Looks like they never clean them. Wonder if it makes any difference. I usually don't.
I clean mine after each smoke. As for the ones u see on tv? Those are being used 24/7 so I would think cleaning wouldn't be necessary. As for us.....I don't use mine 24/7 so I don't want to attract ants and or bacteria.
I clean them before the next cook. Luckily, I can take them to work (I cook) and use the sprayer, heavy duty scrubbers and dish washing machine available to me. I also cheat and use the aluminum grill covers available at Home depot. I can sometimes get 2 smokes off one length so makes it more cost effective. But, lay one of those over the grill and put your meat on that after spraying it and WA LA.....no stick & easy cleanup. On my charcoal grill I fire it up, get the grate almost white hot & wire brush it off.....nothing can live through that.......Willie
