Today is Jacob's graduation day from our U-Turn for Christ program! He has successfully completed the 60 day program and is now clean and well on his way to recovery through the healing power of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. Jake will be returning to his home on Maui early next week. For his graduation we have two surprises.

First, he gets to smoke the two pork butts we bought for this blessed occasion. This will constitute his ‘final exam’ on how to smoke meats. He has smoked some chicken leg quarters and more ABTs since my last post for him but I wasn’t here to snap the pictures. From what I hear, he did a great job and today’s smoke ought to be just as good.

Second, Jake’s wife is flying in for the graduation ceremony and reception to follow. This part, of course, he doesn’t know anything about, so, shhh!

That sounds wonderful. I hope that after leaving there that the spirit is good with him and he continues to be clean. Tell him if he ever feels stressed to fire up a smoker.

Cant wait to see the finished product.

I did tell him it's okay to roll a fatty once in a while!

Here we go…
Here is right after adding some more hipple wood (mix of hickory and apple)

We heard the beeper right about the time Sunday school was starting so we excused ourselves and headed out to foil these bad boys and park them in a cooler for the next two hours.

The pork is off and the ABTs are next up.

After a couple of hours of sitting by and just relaxing, the pork is ready for slicing by our ‘new’ slicer!

Good looking stuff right there!

We started to bring these in and half were gone before they ever made it to the table!

I wish you could taste this! I say he got an A+ for his exam and the rest agreed!

Well done Jake and God bless Brother! (Jake and Lindy)

Great Job Professor Q, your student has excelled in the art of Smoking...

He will be in my prayers too - my Dad has 30 years and still goes to AA meetings 4-5 times a week. He says that he needs to give back to stay sober. God bless you Jake! Stay clean

While Jacob is still technically in the program and can't use the computer, he is standing here praising God for all the kind words and prayers as they will surely be needed!
